ZILI OTTO DESIGN
Zili Otto Design is a Toronto company offering their own unique line of environmentally-conscious clothing for women, men and baby. Much of the inspiration for Zili Otto comes from the fashion trends in Paris, so when they decided to extend their brand into a bodycare line, this was also the inspiration.
Sultry Suds worked with Zili Otto to create a custom scent, inspired by ‘Provence’. The result is a beautiful lavender-based aroma that now acts as a natural brand-extension. A full line of body and babycare products is now sold through both of their Toronto retail locations. The company designed their own labels, which are adorned with the whimsical and playful artwork of co-owner Jennifer Durand.
Sultry Suds continues to work closely with Zili Otto, adding new products as the line increases in popularity amongst their customer base.
THE HEALTHY BUTCHER
The Healthy Butcher approached Sultry Suds in 2007 with an unorthodox idea which involved making soap from their certified organic beef tallow. Sultry Suds worked closely with the Head Butcher to create an exclusive line of sustainable soaps made for the express purpose of making Organic farming a viable business in Ontario. The result is ‘SoapFunction’, a line of socially, economically and environmentally responsible body bars and laundry sticks.
When customers buy a bar of SoapFunction, they are strengthening the sustainable agriculture framework in the province of Ontario by furnishing local farmers with the market force to sell the entirety of their product. By purchasing soap made from beef tallow, consumers are providing local Organic farmers with the financial support they need to make responsible choices. If an Organic farmer can be paid for the entirety of his product, then that farmer can be competitive with subsidized industrial farming operations that are the cause of polluted groundwater and unbalanced buying markets.
With this philosophy in mind, Sultry Suds researched and formulated several varieties of soap, including an organic laundry bar, to be sold through The Healthy Butcher’s two Toronto retail locations. Not only does the resulting soap provide customers a nutritive, hard, and long-lasting bar that lathers well and rinses clean, it acts as an important educational tool!
